Inspired by perceiving the surrounding reality as a complex coexistence of order and chaos, Paweł Mańka combines concepts found in contemporary classical works with the freedom and rhythmical language of modern improvised music. His compositions embrace dense, multi-layered and precisely notated structures, providing unique environments for idiosyncratic improvisations. This interplay results in an organic and intuitive amalgam of musical textures, that follow a strong inner logic.
Paweł Mańka Semiotic Quintet’s debut album, “Kubizm”, premiered during the Warsaw Summer Jazz Days 2021 and earned a nomination for the Fryderyk prize in the “Jazz Debut” category.
Based in Copenhagen, Paweł is a graduate of Syddansk Musikkonservatorium (Master’s Degree, Composition) and Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music (Bachelor’s Degree, Jazz Guitar).
